Geek Reading January 26, 2016

Leading the day is yet another security issue, this one reported on Bits Please. They describe an Android privilege escalation to mediaserver from zero permissions. Some of the security issues that I list tend to be more research based than potential threats, and this falls into the research category. That does not mean that you should ignore them, always get as many updates as you can for your OS. On the morning paper blog, we get a distributed systems seminar reading list. I normally do not highlight the link collections that I share, but if you are remotely interested in distributed systems, this is a great list of papers to review. Immutable infrastructure is starting to become a real thing, and there is a great post at VCDXpert about using Amazon AWS and Ansible.

As always, enjoy today’s items, and please participate in the discussions on these sites.
