Microsoft leads the day again with one of its last announcements from last week. SQL Server Developer Edition is now free. This could help get SQL Server into some more companies that are looking to support it but the cost was somewhat prohibitive. On KD Nuggets we get a list of 10 essential books for the data enthusiast. This is a good list of books to get someone started if they are interested. In the ongoing saga of NPM and LeftPad, divan’s blog has an interesting perspective with some tooling to aid in the problem.
