Geek Reading January 8, 2016

VentureBeat had several good articles yesterday. First, they reported on Yahoo planning to lay off more than 1000 employees, which equates to about 10% of the company. That is a fairly big number but it makes sense as they continue to try to streamline their business. Amazon is now selling its own brand of ARM processors for the connected home. It is a surprise that they are going so low level and not just branding hardware. Lastly, they reported on TimeWarner’s advisory about 320,000 customers of a possible hack. Sadly, I thought the year was starting slow in this respect, but I was wrong.
