Thos003

In the past year, there have been a few startups that launched for local services. ThumbTack and RedBeacon are some new ones for scheduling services, and there are some older ones like Yelp and Yahoo Local. I know I am missing another Yelp competitor as well.

Thanks for the summary. I like cliff notes! I guess it's a good thing that we have focused on local search. Unfortunately google still has a lot of glitchs. Like their results by ratings not showing all the 5 star companies out there. And while local searchs for food and shops are great, local for services that come to your home is a little more complex. Like a pest control service. Would you rather see the closest bug guy or the most recommended that services your area?

They are currently showing results in Phoenix by service areas but I have yet to see this anywhere else?
